Cellar Cheer
Many of our customers drop in to the Cellar Door on a regular basis to have a chat and pick up a case of our 1 litre Cellar Red. This is a new release, which many of you may not be aware of.

So I thought I would put on my Santa hat with the following offer to all our customers: 12 x 1 litre 2005 Cabernet Shiraz for only $99 plus postage.

These large one litre bottles are great to take to a party and as it has no label you can stick on Christmas decoration or even create your own label.

This is a great wine for staff gifts or the staff drinks on Xmas Eve. You could even give old uncle George a bottle or two too!

By Design

In 1997 when we bought the land and started mapping soil types, contours etc to work out block sizes for irrigation, we decided that it was also possible to add an overriding dimension; that the layout of the vineyard should conform to the design of a formal garden.

We found that it would not be to difficult to incorporate the design of one of the most famous English formal gardens into our vineyard plan - the magnificent 15th century Hampton Court Palace Garden.

As the King's garden and our vineyard were very similar size, we believed that with deliberate and meticulous attention to geometric order that we could create a unique entry statement without endangering the quality of our fruit.

It is a design, which can be seen from 1,000 feet and many planes circle back over the vineyard to enjoy the special design... Those who travel the South Western Highway can also catch the triple vista of the pond with the winery in the distance through the avenue of grapes and olives.

Picking up a handful of gravely soil, David Wordsworth must have quietly contemplated the thought ‘right oh - here we go again!’.

The Wordsworth family story is the stuff of swashbuckling tales of bravery, great English poetry and the cockiness of the early colonial ‘squatter’ aristocracy… and most importantly it is a story of one family’s unparalleled tradition of adventure, commitment and excellence.

Great Promise
Ray Jordan, a noted Australian wine writer recently claimed Wordsworth Family Estate wines 'show great promise.'

Whilst the wine growing region of Geographe has been rated as 'one of the State's most exciting new wine regions' - Ray Jordan’s Guide to Wine 2005/2006

The wines have been hailed by West Australian wine writer, John Jens for their 'opulence, balance and great appeal.'

A truly Australian story!
The Wordsworth forefathers drove sheep and cattle in the Australia outback, discovered gold and diamonds at the notorious Lightening Ridge, fought the Turks at Gallipoli, ran with the cavalry charge of the Light Horse Brigade on Beersheba and lived the colonial army life in India, before becoming part of Australia’s history through the family’s business and Parliamentary service.

Small Parcels of Estate Grown Wines

The Wordsworth wine tradition began in 1997, when India-born David Wordsworth sought out the best land in Western Australia for creating the family wine estate.

Priding itself on championing the 'emerging varieties' of Verdelho and Zinfandel in Western Australia, Wordsworth Family Estate selects only a share of the Estate's grapes to craft six varieties of exclusive wines at affordable price points.

The fine wine estate presently being created includes a picturesque vineyard, Baronial Oak Cellar and Tasting Room featuring many of the Wordsworth family’s acclaimed antique collection.

The First Greenie

Interestingly it was William Wordsworth (1800 – 1850), British Poet Laureate, as the leader of a small group of concerned gentle folk, who following the agricultural and industrial revolutions, started to express their concern for the British countryside becoming probably the earlier ‘Green Movement’.

This love and care for the land is again reflected in the family’s development of the Wordsworth Family Estate Vineyard in the Geographe region of Western Australia.
